Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy
Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy is used to treat tendon and muscle conditions including tennis elbow, jumper’s knee, shoulder rotator cuff pain, achilles tendinitis and plantar fasciitis. The shockwaves are abrupt, high amplitude pulses of mechanical energy, similar to sound waves, generated by an electromagnetic, electrohydraulic, piezoelectric or radial in form. The hypothesized physiological mechanisms of healing on musculoskeletal condition are stimulation of angiogenesis and neurogenesis.
