Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT)
Australia and American guideline highly recommend Constraint Induced Movement Therapy in training upper limb function for stroke survivors e.g. use affected hand in opening doors, eating or keeping balance in walking.
More than 150 scientific articles proved the effectiveness.
Maximizes use of affected arm : Mitten
Program of 2 weeks treatment, 2-3 hours daily, constraint good arm most of the time to engage the affected arm to perform more functional tasks.

Adherence-enhancing behavior strategies:
Different treatment strategies, task specific training and intensive training of affected arm
  • Behavioral contract, Caregiver contract
  • Daily Administration of the motor activity log, , Home diary
  • Problem solving to overcome apparent barriers to use of the more affected UE in the real environment
