Cough Assist Machine is a non-invasive mechanical device. It assists patient to clear sputum by applying a positive pressure to the airway, then a rapid shift to negative pressure in order to produce an expiratory flow from the lung. It induces a good chest expansion. Oscillation mode would further loosen up the secretion. It is useful for patients with an ineffective cough due to chronic respiratory disease, and neuromuscular disorders with paralysed respiratory muscles. This device can be used on tracheostomised and ventilated patients and patient with facemask.
